The Twelve in Twelve Mission
Our mission is to make a measurable, positive impact on communities here in America and around the globe. We are committed to developing worthwhile projects that encourage self-reliance, self-worth, and integrity. Our foundation seeks to inspire both children and adults to engage in the issues that are impacting our world by promoting the efforts of
our Twelve In Twelve projects.
Together I know we can make an enormous difference in the lives of those less fortunate. The world can always use additional education, inspiration, and good deeds. We are so thankful for all of the people who have been willing to give of their time, energy, and resources to make the work of Twelve in Twelve a reality.
Our 3-Part Objective:
- Twelve In Twelve Projects – The Twelve In Twelve Foundation has selected twelve organizations from the humanitarian travels of J.D. Lewis and his sons upon which to focus – raising awareness, funding, and supplies. The goal of the foundation is to help implement programs that will promote sustainability and long-term success.
- Educational Programming – We have developed an educational program utilized by schools, community groups, and organizations. This presentation follows the travels of the Lewis family around the globe, teaching a combination of geography, history, global music and art, and world religions. J.D. Lewis is currently writing a book on his family’s journey in order to educate, promote and connect others to this project. In addition, a documentary of their journey is also in the process. The Lewis family continues to do educational speaking engagements across America.
- Global Volunteer Network – We have established a network of organizations throughout the world at which families and/or individuals can volunteer. Our goal is to establish an infrastructure to help aid in the planning, fundraising and execution of global humanitarian journeys. We wish to encourage others to embark on similar ‘volun-tourism’ adventures.
Twelve in Twelve Beginnings:
Six years ago, Jackson Lewis asked his father if there was anything they could do to make a difference in the lives of those who were less fortunate than they. His empathy so resonated with his father that a less than active response was simply not an option.
Jackson’s query sparked the beginning of a mystic journey around the globe, now known as Twelve in Twelve. The decision was made to pack up the house, take the kids out of school and embark on a yearlong sojourn.
